ECS related-discipline cards
If you work on electrical systems without being an electrician (AV, data and comms, fire and security, building controls and BMS), ECS has card types for your discipline.
What you usually need
Applicants for many related-discipline cards need to pass the ECS Health, Safety & Environment assessment and the Electrical Safety Unit, along with the qualifications ECS lists for their discipline.
ECS sets the exact requirements for each card type and can change them. Always check the ECS card types page before you apply.
Preparing for the Electrical Safety Unit
The ESU covers basic electrical theory, regulations, safe isolation, cabling, equipment and testing. If electrical work isn't your day job, those topics can feel unfamiliar, so practise each one before you book.
